The Algerian Air Force has scrapped a major weapons systems deal with France, after the French refusal to assure that systems do not include any Israeli components.

Algeria has included this condition in the deal to ensure exclusion of any Israeli products from its air force assets so as to eliminate any dependence on Israeli manufacturers.

The negotiations for the weapon systems deal with France lasted nearly a year before being called off.

The country says it had also placed this clause in its deal for Italian helicopters and British battleships.

The clause is seen to protect the country from any political influence by Israel.
