The US Air Force has awarded a contract to L-3 Communications to provide maintenance services on two helicopters and one CV-22 Osprey located at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico.
Under the $8.2m contract, L-3 Communications Vertex Aerospace will provide periodical maintenance services for the UH-1N and HH-60G helicopters as well as for the CV-22 Osprey aircraft.
The Bell UH-1N Twin Huey is a medium military helicopter that can carry an external load of 2,268kg and fly at a maximum speed of 204kph.
The Sikorsky HH-60G Pave Hawk is a twin turboshaft engine helicopter used for the insertion and recovery of special operations personnel.
The CV-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft, capable of vertical takeoff, hover, and vertical landing, conduct long-range infiltration, exfiltration and resupply missions for special operations forces.
