Hawker Beechcraft’s AT-6 advanced trainer aircraft prototype has performed its first successful flight.
The AT-6 prototype is a structurally strengthened derivative of the US Air Force and US Navy T-6A/B trainer providing a light attack, armed reconnaissance solution for warfighter needs.
The AT-6 will allow pilots to quickly transition from basic flight training missions to complex NetCentric light attack and armed reconnaissance missions.
The advanced trainer is fitted with integrated sensors, data-link, cockpit protection and multiple weapons configurations.
The next phase of flight testing will include flight envelope expansion of the instrumented AT-6 prototype, performance and handling qualities assessments with various external store configurations.
