The US Air Force has awarded a $750m contract to Boeing for providing engineering support and maintaining its B-52 bombers.

During the ten years of the contract, the B-52s will be given software, communications, avionics and electrical upgrades.

The contract will also involve structural analysis, rewiring and other tasks for the fighter as required by the air force.

Boeing B-52 Fleet Support Program manager Mike Houk said that they will provide 24/7 in-flight emergency support to aircrews and the pilots can contact Boeing from the cockpit to troubleshoot and solve problems in real time.
