The US Air Force is to receive P5 combat training systems / tactical combat training systems from Cubic Corporation.
The systems will include an air-to-air data link that operates on European air-combat-training-preferred S-band to allow joint training with Nato air forces.
The fifth-generation combat trainer will help the forces train with real-time weapons simulation and live monitoring.
The units will allow the US Air Force to receive real-time training for air-to-air, air-to-ground and surface-to-air combat missions.
The pilots will be able to train anywhere and at any time without a fixed range, due to the combat trainer’s rangeless capability.
The P5’s aircraft-mounted airborne instrumentation packages and ground stations will help aircrews to conduct, monitor and control air combat training and post-flight debriefing.
The systems will be installed in Lakenheath, UK, and the order had been contracted through the 698th Armament System Squadron at Eglin Air Force Base.
