Comtech Telecommunications subsidiary Comtech Xicom Technology has been awarded a delivery order for Ka-Band power amplifiers for US Air Force (USAF) satellite communications network expansion.

The Ka-band antenna-mount amplifiers received under the contract will be used in transportable USAF satellite terminals and will expand on the existing US Air Force military satellite communications network.

The amplifiers, which are suitable for global command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) services, feature high linear power.

The system is packed into multiple transit cases, and is capable of operation in challenging worldwide environments.

The value of the order, received from an undisclosed major US prime contractor, is estimated at $7.1m.
