The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) has selected International Aero Engines (IAE) to deliver V2500-E5 engine powerplants for the nation’s new KC-390 multirole tanker / transport aircraft.

The FAB’s KC-390 development programme involves the purchase of 28 aircraft, and IAE has already started engineering work on the project.

IAE is expected to commence delivery of powerplants for prototype aircraft in 2013, while flight tests are slated for the following year.

The FAB is scheduled to receive production powerplants in 2015 and the engines are expected to enter operational service in the same year.

Deliveries are scheduled to continue until 2030.

IAE industry partners on the KC-390 development programme include Pratt & Whitney, Rolls-Royce, MTU and JAEC.
