IMP Aerospace will deliver the first re-winged P-3 Orion aircraft to the Royal Norwegian Air Force as part of an aircraft service-life extension programme.

The programme also includes the replacement of the centre wing lower surface and horizontal stabiliser.

The delivery follows a contract awarded to IMP by the Royal Norwegian Air Force to refit its entire fleet of six P-3 Orion aircraft.

The P-3 Orion aircraft plays a critical role in submarine detection, search and rescue, littoral and overland surveillance, and economic zone and shipping lane protection.

Lockheed Martin has also partnered with IMP in enhancing the Royal Norwegian Air Force’s maritime patrol and reconnaissance fleet with their first mid-life upgraded P-3 Orion.

The aircraft, similar to the Canadian CP140 Aurora aircraft, will also receive new wings as part of a mid-life upgrade under a separate contract.
