The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency has notified Congress of a potential sale for follow-on support and maintenance of multiple aircraft systems to Iraq.

Under the estimated $675m foreign military sale, Iraq has requested support for aircraft including the TC-208, Cessna 172, AC-208, T-6A and King Air 350.

The package also includes ground stations, repair and return, spare and repair parts, personnel training and training equipment, US Government and contractor engineering, and other related logistics support.

The follow-on support will ensure the operational capability of the Iraqi Air Force and maintain indigenous intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance, training, and counter-insurgency / counterterrorism capabilities.

The sale will allow the Iraqi Air Force to develop a force that will be capable of providing security and establishing stability in the country.

Hawker Beechcraft Corporation, Flight Safety International, Alliant Techsystems, L-3 Communications and Integration Innovation will serve as prime contractors.
