The Defense Security Cooperation Agency has notified US Congress of a potential foreign military sale of five UH-60M Black Hawk VIP helicopters to the UAE.
Under the estimated $217m sale, the UAE has also requested 12 T700-GE-701D engines, six AN/APR-39A(V)4 radar signal detecting sets, 80 AN/AVS-9 night vision devices, six Star Safire III forward-looking infrared radar systems and six AAR-57(V)3 common missile warning systems.
The package also includes six AN/AVR-2B laser warning sets, C406 electronic locator transmitters, traffic collision avoidance systems and weather radars, aviation mission planning station, government-furnished equipment, ferry support, spare and repair parts, and other related support.
The Black Hawk helicopters will be used by the UAE for intra-country transportation of officials to militarily critical training and operation sites.
The helicopters will also enhance personnel safety by providing for the detection and avoidance of rocket / missile attacks by terrorists.
Sikorsky Aircraft and General Electric Aircraft will be the principal contractors.
