AEL Sistemas, a Brazilian subsidiary of Elbit, has been awarded a follow-on contract from Embraer Defense for the upgrade of 11 F-5 jet fighter-bomber aircraft.
The $85m upgrade contract will include engineering services and delivery of the mission computer, display systems, radar, EW system, ammunition management system and other avionics related products.
The company will also supply a flight simulator, spares and ground support equipment as part of the contract.
The Brazilian F-5M is armed with Python V coupled to the DASH helmet-mounted cue system, new GRIFO radar, cockpit displays, navigation electronics and the Israeli Derby missile.
Work under the contract will be carried out through 2013.
