AdoAir Aviation Group has been awarded a five-year luxury aircraft supply and maintenance contract from the South African Air Force (SAAF).

The N18.4bn ($120m) deal was awarded after a competitive bidding that involved five other companies.

The South African Department of Defence said the leased Embraer executive jets would fill its aging air force VIP squadron.

The jets will be equipped with computer and satellite communication services, a conference cabin for about six and resting quarters for top government functionaries on board.

The presidential jet, Inkwazi, is currently undergoing maintenance.
