DRS Technologies has received a contract from the US Air Force (USAF) to continue providing maintenance and overhaul of Tunner aircraft cargo loaders.
Under the $34.2m contract awarded by the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center in Georgia, DRS will perform depot level overhaul to return the cargo loaders to a near zero hours / zero miles condition.
DRS Sustainment Systems vice-president / general manager Thomas G Cornwell said the contract would ensure that the USAF remained at a high state of readiness with its over-300 Tunners.
The Tunner is a mobile platform that can support six pallets of cargo weighing 30t, and can quickly and efficiently load and unload any large military transport / tanker aircraft such as the C-17, C-5, and KC-135.
