Lockheed Martin has been awarded the C-130 transport aircraft aircrew training systems (ATS) contract by the US Air Force to provide academic and simulation training programme for C-130 aircrews worldwide.
The eight-year $270m contract includes training and instruction, site management, engineering support, and operation and maintenance for the aircrew training devices.
Lockheed Martin global training and logistics training and engineering services vice-president Jim Weitzel said the training provided aircrews with the ability to successfully prepare for real-world scenarios.
The C-130 ATS is the Department of Defense’s formal C-130 training centre for all US Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and Coastguard forces.
The C-130 ATS also provides training at five other installations including four in the US and one in Yokota Air Base, Japan.
