Russia’s major aircraft holding company, Sukhoi, has completed trials for the Su-25UBM twin-seat attack aircraft and operational trainer.

The trials, which included the use of live weapons, will enable the Russian Air Force to allow the variant to enter service, Flightglobal reports quoting Sukhoi Attack Aircraft general director Vladimir Babak.

The Su-25UBM variant is a modification of the Su-25 twin-seat operational trainer, equipped with systems that will enable it to perform ground-attack missions.

The aircraft can be employed in other roles including reconnaissance and target designation, or as an airborne control post.

The Su-25UBM will be cleared to enter series production once state approval has been received.
