Embraer Defense and Security president and CEO Jackson Schneider said: “Embraer is keen to have SkyTech as a strategic partner for some of our own planned projects, where we see them adding value and enhancements by providing various ongoing solutions to our own defence customer base.”

Developed by Embraer, the KC-390 aircraft is a tactical transport jet that combines a highly flexible platform with the lowest life-cycle cost in the medium airlift market.

The military transport aircraft has been designed specifically to carry out a wide range of missions, which include transportation of cargo, troops or paratroopers, and aerial refuelling.

SkyTech president Paulo Mirpuri said: “We have been following the KC-390 programme since its inception and believe that it will be a game-changer in the medium-sized airlift category as well as a multi-role platform.”

The KC-390 also supports humanitarian missions, search-and-rescue missions, medical evacuation, and aerial firefighting.

With a maximum speed of 470k, the multi-mission aircraft is capable of transporting up to 26 metric tonnes of cargo, in addition to carrying out operations in hostile environments, including unprepared or damaged runways.

SkyTech has been established by a partnership between Portugal-based company HiFly, and Australian aviation services and charter provider Adagold Aviation.

In addition to the current LoI, the two companies have also agreed to enter a potential strategic partnership that would focus on new business opportunities in training and services.
