Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 44.48% in July 2022, a 31.88% drop over the previous month. Computer and Information Research Scientists came in next, claiming a share of 24.05% in July 2022, marking a 26.32% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 19.14% in July 2022, a 42.21% drop from June 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 35.13% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s aerospace, defence & security industry during July 2022 over previous month.
Northrop Grumman posted 569 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a decline of 17.42% over the previous month, followed by Raytheon Technologies with 520 jobs and a 7.96% drop. The Boeing with 476 IT jobs and General Dynamics with 474 jobs, recorded a 22.73% drop and a 70.23% drop, respectively, while L3Harris Technologies recorded a 27.03% increase with 423 job postings during July 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s aerospace, defence & security industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s aerospace, defence & security industry IT hiring activity with a 98.46% share in July 2022, a 33.62% decrease over June 2022. Canada featured next with a 1.18% share, down 24.56% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.36% share, a growth of 85.71% compared with June 2022.
Mid Level job postings dominate in July 2022
Mid Level jobs held a share of 48.57%, down by 32.58% from June 2022. Junior Level positions with a 34.71% share, registered a decline of 34.78% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 16.31% share, down 31.8% over June 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.41%, recording a month-on-month decline of 54.55%.
