Australia’s aerospace, defence & security industry registered a 2.1% drop in IT hiring activity in July 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 6.57% in July 2022 when compared with June 2022.

Out of the aerospace, defence & security industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 16.99% share in July 2022, recording a decrease of 0.31% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Australia’s aerospace, defence & security industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.61% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s aerospace, defence & security industry in July 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 40.28% in July 2022, registering a 38.1% growth over the previous month.

2) Computer and Information Research Scientists claimed a 31.94% share, an increase of 21.05% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 20.83%, registering an 11.76% decline from June 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 2.78%, up 100% over the previous month.

Top five aerospace, defence & security companies in Australia’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 28.85% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s aerospace, defence & security industry during July 2022 over June 2022.

The Boeing posted 39 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a rise of 34.48% over the previous month, followed by Thales with 19 jobs and a 58.33% growth. Northrop Grumman with 4 IT jobs and Cubic with 3 jobs, recorded a 100% growth and a 50% decrease, respectively, while Raytheon Technologies recorded a decline of 33.33% with 2 job postings during July 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 45.83%, up by 22.22% from June 2022. Mid Level positions with a 44.44% share, registered an increase of 6.67% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 9.72% share, up 75% over June 2022.
