Middle East & Africa witnessed a 5.0% drop in IT hiring activity in the aerospace, defence & security industry in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

August 2021 has seen an increase of 6.37% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2021.

IT jobs accounted for an 8.44% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2021, registering an increase of 0.26% over the last three-month average share.

Database and Network Administrators and Architects Occupations leads by classification in August 2021

Database and Network Administrators and Architects Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 31.25% in August 2021, a 28.57% drop over the previous month. Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers came in next, claiming a share of 25% in August 2021, marking a 57.14% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 18.75% in August 2021, a 200% rise from July 2021.

Computer and Information Research Scientists registered a share of 14.58% in August 2021, a 133.33% rise over the previous month.

Top five aerospace, defence & security companies in Middle East & Africa’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 6.67% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s aerospace, defence & security industry during August 2021 over previous month.

Vectrus posted 26 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered an increase of 136.36% over the previous month, followed by Thales with 7 jobs and a 36.36% drop. Elbit Systems with 5 IT jobs and Lockheed Martin with 2 jobs, recorded a 72.22% drop and a flat growth, respectively, while Raytheon Technologies recorded a 60% decline with 2 job postings during August 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s aerospace, defence & security industry

Kuwait commanded a leading presence in the region’s aerospace, defence & security industry IT hiring activity with a 50% share in August 2021, a 500% increase over July 2021. Israel featured next with a 14.58% share, down 72% over the previous month. Qatar recorded a 10.42% share, a drop of 28.57% compared with July 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 58.33%, down by 20% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 29.17% share, registered a decline of 6.67% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 12.5% share, down 14.29% over July 2021.
