The global aerospace, defence and security industry experienced a 1% drop in new job postings related to social responsibility in Q3 2022 compared with the previous quarter, according to GlobalData’s whitepaper on Social Responsibility in Aerospace, Defence & Security – Hiring Activity in Q3 2022. This compares to a 282% increase versus Q3 2021.

Notably, Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers jobs accounted for a 7% share of the global aerospace, defence and security industry’s social responsibility-related total new job postings in Q3 2022, down 6% over the prior quarter.







	

               
   

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers drive social responsibility-related hiring activity

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers, with a share of 7%, emerged as the top social responsibility-related job roles within the aerospace, defence and security industry in Q3 2022, with new job postings drop by 6% quarter-on-quarter. Computer and Information Research Scientists came in second with a share of 4% in Q3 2022, with new job postings rising by 9% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent social responsibility roles include Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a 4% share in Q3 2022, Electrical and Electronics Engineers with a 3% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in aerospace, defence and security industry accounted for 0.19% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2022 were Northrop Grumman, General Dynamics, Raytheon Technologies and Boeing. Together they accounted for a combined share of 0.19% of all social responsibility-related active jobs in the aerospace, defence and security industry.

Northrop Grumman posted 8,162 social responsibility-related new jobs in Q3 2022, General Dynamics 3,193 jobs, Raytheon Technologies 1,113 jobs, and Boeing 907 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with an 88% share of total active job postings, Q3 2022

The largest share of social responsibility-related new job postings in the aerospace, defence and security industry in Q3 2022 was in the US with 88% followed by the UK (4%) and India (1%). The share represented by the US was one percentage point lower than the 89% share it accounted for in Q2 2022.
