Architecture and Engineering Occupations, with a share of 31%, emerged as the top advanced materials-related job roles within the aerospace, defence and security industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings drop by 52% quarter-on-quarter. Production Occupations came in second with a share of 16% in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 30% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent advanced materials roles include Computer and Mathematical Occupations with a 5% share in Q2 2024, Life, Physical, and Social Science Occupations with a 3% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in aerospace, defence and security industry accounted for 45% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were General Atomics, RTX, Northrop Grumman, General Electric, and Boeing. Together they accounted for a combined share of 45% of all advanced materials-related new jobs in the aerospace, defence and security industry.
General Atomics posted 74 advanced materials-related new jobs in Q2 2024, RTX 46 jobs, Northrop Grumman 39 jobs, General Electric 36 jobs, and Boeing 36 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 78.53% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024
The largest share of advanced materials-related new job postings in the aerospace, defence and security industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 78.53% followed by India (4.06%) and the UK (3.68%). The share represented by the US was 11 percentage points higher than the 67.04% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
