CMPS is the business division of Cubic Corporation.

The F-35 Lightning II JSF is a stealthy, supersonic multirole fighter developed by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company for the US Air Force, US Navy and US Marine Corps and programme partners from the Nato and US allies.

Last September, CMPS won the P5CTS support contract for the USAF and allied nations and partners.

Under the latest contract, Cubic will supply more than 150 training subsystems for the aircraft’s air combat manoeuvring instrumentation (ACMI) system.

This contract brings the count of the total number of F-35 P5 on contract to more than 1,150.

The company noted that the fielding of F-35 P5 is scheduled for 2025.

Cubic Mission and Performance Solutions president Mike Knowles said: “Our advanced and interoperable P5CTS is used on more than 30 ranges worldwide and continues to set the standard for joint, multiservice and coalition training.

“Training for today’s advanced threats to air combat operations requires adaptable, high-fidelity training tools. Cubic’s P5CTS provides secure and scalable instrumentation solutions that enable integrated fourth and fifth-generation training for our US forces, allies and partners.”

The JSF P5 internal subsystem (IS) supports communication of ‘Time, Space and Position Information’ during training sorties between ‘participating aircraft and range ground stations’.

According to Cubic, the global P5 infrastructure includes the integration of P5 pods and internal subsystems, as well as ground stations and software. It is funded by 17 countries.

The F-35 P5 internal subsystem will be maintained by Cubic and its principal subcontractor Leonardo DRS.

Leonardo’s Leonardo DRS Airborne and Intelligence Systems (AIS) business division is undertaking the design and production of the ‘airborne P5CTS Internal Subsystem’.

In November, the USAF awarded a contract to Cubic Global Defense to supply P5CTS.
