Under the contract, the Qatar Emiri Air Force will receive 24 Typhoon aircraft, along with a bespoke support and training package.

Delivery of aircraft is expected to begin in late 2022.

Williamson has also agreed on a training and co-operation package between the airforces of both countries.

The deal includes the intention to proceed with the purchase of Hawk aircraft, the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) stated.

The Typhoon contract follows a recent agreement signed by the Qatar Armed Forces to purchase an additional 12 Rafale multi-role fighter aircraft from Dassault Aviation.

The agreement will bring the total number of Rafale aircraft operated by the Qatar Emiri Air Force to 36.
