The US Air Force’s distributed mission operations (DMO) network has become connected to Boeing’s F-15E mission training centre to enable F-15E pilots at bases around the world to virtually train with each other.

The training centre will allow F-15E aircrews to train in a simulated operational environment at a fraction of the cost of live-fly training exercises that need personnel and aircraft to be present at one location together.

DMO provide an advanced training environment where the aircrew can fly simulators linked through the DMO network from their home bases.

The DMO network helps add the variability of human beings to the training scenario, providing a much more realistic training experience than with computer-generated entities alone.

USAF is scheduled to incorporate one more F-15E training centre at its Seymour Johnson Air Force Base later in 2009.
