The Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Royal Air Force (RAF) will conduct the Indra-Dhanush air exercise at Kalaikunda airbase in West Bengal, India, by the end of October.

During the exercise, the RAF will deploy new Eurofighter jets, while the IAF will deploy its Sukhoi-30MKI fighters.

The exercise, which will be held in an airborne warning and control systems (AWACS) environment, is aimed to enhance mutual operational understanding among the two air forces.

The IAF and RAF will also use their mid-air refuelling aircraft, such as the IL-78 and VC-10 tankers, during the combat manoeuvres, according to The Times of India.

The exercise is significant as India is in the final stages of the selection process to acquire 126 medium multi-role combat aircraft for the IAF, at a cost of $10.4bn.
