The South Korean Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) has awarded a contract to Raytheon for supply of additional AGM-65G-2 Maverick air-to-surface tactical missiles (AGM).
Under the terms of $31m contract, the company will supply the missiles for use by the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF).

Raytheon Missile Systems Maverick programme director Jack Roosa said the new Mavericks will provide ROKAF with additional firepower and will also add to South Korea’s existing inventory.
"Raytheon remains committed to delivering superior weapons that support the mission of our allies and enhance their capability," Roosa said.
The missile is already installed onboard ROKAF’s A-50, F-16C/D Block 52D, F-15K and F-4 fighter aircraft.
Originally designed and manufactured by Hughes Missile Systems, the AGM-65 Maverick is a general purpose fire-and-forget tactical air-to-ground tactical missile designed for close air support, interdiction and defence suppression missions in urban environments.

By GlobalDataThe missile offers precise stand-off capability and enhanced probability of strike against a broad range of stationary and moving high-value targets, such as armoured vehicles, air defences, fast boats and ships, in addition to ground transportation and fuel storage facilities with minimum collateral damage.
Maverick features two warhead options, which include 300lb blast fragmentation or 125lb shaped charge, and three seeker choices of CCD (TV), infrared and laser, to enable soldiers to conduct around-the-clock operations.
The missile is also employed by the US Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and other allied nations on more than 25 types of aircraft.
Additional contract details, including the number of missiles ordered and delivery schedule, remain undisclosed.
