The US Air Force (USAF) has selected Booz Allen Hamilton as a prime contractor for the $7.9bn network-centric solutions-2 (Netcents-2) network operations and infrastructure solutions contract for US Air Force IT programmes.

This indefinite delivery / indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract has a three-year base period and four one-year options.

Booz Allen Hamilton vice-president Kim Bird said: "This award expands upon Booz Allen’s already strong presence on the Air Force Netcents family of contracts.

"We will deliver solutions to affordably transform the air force IT enterprise based on our broad domain, engineering, cyber and technical expertise."

Under this contract, Booz Allen will be responsible for delivering services and solutions, including existing legacy infrastructure, networks, systems and operations, as well as emerging requirements.

In addition, the firm will offer network-centric information technology, cloud-based capabilities, advanced networking, and cybersecurity, as well as voice, video and data communications.

The scope of the delivery also includes system solutions and services to satisfy air force and Department of Defense (DoD) combat support, command, control, computing, communications, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) requirements.

The Netcents-2 programme aims to assist the USAF and other agencies to minimise risk and costs associated with reliability, maintainability, interoperability, security, information assurance, systems and engineering of net-centric operations.

LGS Innovations and NCI have also received positions in on the Netcents-2 NetOps Full Air Force contract vehicle.

LGS will be responsible for delivering solutions to support network operations, core enterprise services, and infrastructure development and operations.

On the other hand, NCI will offer solutions and services to support existing legacy infrastructure, networks, systems and operations, and evolving components that comply with the USAF’s enterprise architecture.
