The US Air Force (USAF) has deployed around 225 Airmen and three B-2 Spirits to Andersen Air Force Base, Guam to perform familiarisation training activities in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
Deployed from Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, the USAF personnel will conduct flight operations in an environment outside of the US to maintain force readiness.
13th Bomb Squadron commander lieutenant colonel Robert Makros said: "Everyone understands the role they play in the B-2 global strike mission and what it provides to leadership.
"The flexibility and ability to strike, at the time and place of leadership’s choosing, any target set on the globe with precision, range, stealth and a massive payload, conventional or nuclear, is what makes this aircraft incredible."
The 13th Bomb Squadron will be training with sister services and other joint aircraft, Makros added.
In addition to B-2 aircrews, the training will be conducted by the maintainers and support personnel on the ground.
The mission will offer flexibility to Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC) senior leadership by making B-2 a credible and viable option to deliver decisive effects.
AFGSC evaluates readiness and reposition of forces regularly to make sure that they maintain both the operational and support capabilities to meet training needs.
It includes planned deployments to various regions around the globe in order to provide commanders with strike capability and extended deterrence against potential adversaries.
