India has reportedly signed various agreements for the procurement of military equipment from Russia.

Under a Inter Governmental Agreement, India will acquire five S-400 'Triumf' long-range air defence missile systems for its armed forces.

The Almaz Central Design Bureau-built anti-aircraft weapon system has the ability to engage all types of incoming targets such as aircraft, missiles and drones within the range of up to 400km.

"The new Kamov Ka-226T helicopters are anticipated to replace the ageing fleet of Cheetah and Chetak choppers in India."

Russian President Vladimir Putin was quoted by Sputnik as saying: “We do not only sell modern weapons to India, but we are also engaged in joint projects.

"S-400 Triumf is a multibillion deal, billions of dollars.

"You know that we will be modernising Brahmos missile system so that it could be a land, air and sea-based system.

As part of another separate deal, Russia will deliver four Admiral Grigorovich-class guided-missile stealth frigates, The Financial Express reported.

These agreements were signed during the India-Russia Summit in Goa.
