The air forces of France and Croatia have recently participated in a joint training activity for the first time at Zemunik, in Croatia.
The two-day activity witnessed participation from three Dassault Alphajet aircraft belonging to the French Air Force.
It was carried out within the programme of practice, planning and conduct of international overflights to foreign airports and the respective procedures, which is a routine training procedure for French military pilots.
Croatian Air Force and Air Defence Aerobatic Group 'Wings of Storm' team leader and the Fixed-wing Squadron deputy commander lieutenant colonel Damir Barišic said: "The training activities of this kind are a common practice in most European air forces and a valuable opportunity for young pilots to increase the knowledge, experience and self-confidence."
French military aircraft visited Croatia for the first time, paving the way for reinforced co-operation in pilot training, the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Croatia stated.
The pilots from France trained alongside the pilots of Fixed-wing Squadron of the 93rd Air Base of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence.
During the activity, the French pilots performed a joint training in group flying in their Pilatus PC-9M aircraft and the pilots of the Fixed-wing Squadron of the 91st Air Base practised air interception and target identification flying their MiG-21 fighter aircraft.
