The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has notified Congress of a potential foreign military sale (FMS) of joint direct attack munition (JDAM) kits and associated equipment to Singapore.

Under the estimated $63m sale, Singapore has requested the supply of a total of 913 KMU-556B/B JDAM kits for use on Mk-84 2,000lb bombs, along with 100 FMU-152A/B fuses, and 300 DSU-40 precision laser guidance sets.

Approved by the US State Department, the package also includes munition trailers, support equipment, spare and repair parts, test equipment, publications and technical documentation, personnel training and training equipment, and other related elements of logistics support.

Required to maintain Singapore’s air-to-ground weapons stockpiles and to accommodate training expenditures, the package is expected to enable the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) to sustain mission-ready status to ensure that it can contribute to coalition operations and address its national defence requirements.

"The munitions would primarily enable RSAF pilots to practice using GPS-guided munitions."

A portion of munitions are anticipated for use at Singapore’s continental US (CONUS) F-15SG training facility at Mountain Home Air Force Base in south-western Idaho, US.

The munitions would primarily enable RSAF pilots to practice using GPS-guided munitions, which will further refine their combat capability.
