The US Air Force (USAF) has contracted Telos Corporation to upgrade the networking equipment in de-militarised zone.

Valued at around $26m, the contract requires the company to replace the ageing DMZ that includes networking equipment such as firewall, intrusion prevention and intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, web-portal capability, and security management.

Work under the contract will be carried out at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia; Beale Air Force Base, California; Langley Air Force Base, Virginia; Ramstein Air Base, Germany; and Wichita, Kansas, with plans to complete the upgradation by 2019.

Telos has been awarded the contract following a competitive acquisition process.

Under the NETCENTS-2 programme, Telos supports the deployment of new technologies for military and civilian agencies to improve communications capabilities and protect the nation’s IT security from threats.
