RADA Electronic Industries is to supply its RPS-42 aerial surveillance radar systems to an undisclosed Asian military force.
Based on the Multi-Mission Hemispheric Radar (MHR) platform, RADA’s RPS-42 radar systems will provide the customer’s air defence with advanced aerial surveillance capabilities to detect unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) or drones.

RADA Electronic Industries CEO Zvi Alon said: "This selection by a primary customer, is a major milestone achievement for RADA.
"It is significant to us not only because of the size of the expected order, but also due to its strategic value.
“It should open up for RADA many more global opportunities for such systems, in a world where small unmanned aerial vehicles, also known as drones, are becoming ever more prevalent.”
The MHR radar platform is an S-band, software-defined, pulse-doppler, active electronically scanned array radar.

By GlobalDataThis compact and mobile system offers beam forming capabilities and advanced signal processing. It can also provide multiple missions on each radar platform, and offers an unprecedented performance-to-price ratio, RADA said in a statement.
It can be used for force and border protection applications such as counter rockets and mortars, counter unmanned aerial systems, ground moving target indicator, air surveillance, and more.
Deliveries under the deal will be completed by mid-2017.
In July this year, RADA received $2m worth orders from Israeli defence manufacturers for the production of airborne recorders and various avionics systems.
These systems will be installed on-board manned and un-manned aircraft and helicopters.
