The US Department of Defence (DoD) has selected Lockheed Martin’s Missiles and Fire Control division to supply Target Sight Systems (TSS) for the Pakistani Air Force’s (PAF) AH-1Z Cobra attack helicopters.
TSS is the multi-sensor electro-optical / infrared (EO / IR) fire control system (AN/AAQ-30) developed for the AH-1Z Cobra attack helicopter. It provides the capability to identify and laser-designate targets at maximum weapon range.

Under the terms of the $14m contract, the company will provide software development and testing, system modification, and installation services to integrate the TSS into the attack helicopters.
Work under the contract will be carried out at the company’s facilities in Orlando and Ocala, Florida.
The work is expected to be completed by the end of 2017.
TSS supports the helicopters in target identification and tracking, and passive targeting for integrated weapons such as Hellfire missiles.

TSS includes a third-generation four field-of-view FLIR based on a 3-5-micron staring array, CCD colour TV, Kollsman eyesafe laser rangefinder / designator and multi-target autotracker.
L-3 Communications Wescam supplies the turret assembly.
Lockheed Martin received a $43m contract in July 2015, extending the production of TSS until 2017 at the company’s facilities in Ocala and Orlando, Florida.The initial TSS production contract was awarded by the US in March 2008, while Lockheed Martin delivered the first TSS in June 2009.
