The ELGTR provides realistic Paveway II laser-guided bomb (LGB) tactical employment training for warfighters, Lockheed stated.

Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control precision guided systems director Joe Serra said: “ELGTR will provide aircrews with the most affordable and capable, live-fire training while preserving their tactical LGB inventory.”

According to the company, ELGTR allows aircrews to practise delivery tactics in a real-mission environment and experience actual weapon characteristics within today's range limitations.

It is also said to provide circular error probability (CEP) within 4m and CE90 performance against challenging airborne-based tactical target environments.

“ELGTR will provide aircrews with the most affordable and capable, live-fire training while preserving their tactical LGB inventory.”

Said to be the only live-fire LGB training solution for warfighters, the ELGTR (BDU-59B/B) is compatible with F/A-18, AV-8B, F-16 and various international aircraft.

The $1.9m contract from Megmar also requires Lockheed to provide technical data, logistics support and introduction to service training to the Polish Air Force.

The ELGTRs are manufactured at the company's production facility in Archbald, Pennsylvania, US, where Paveway II Plus LGB kits are also produced.

Lockheed Martin has so far sold more than 150,000 units to the US Navy and international customers.
