L-3 MAS vice-president and general manager Jacques Comtois said: “We are very pleased to be awarded a contract through the Build in Canada Innovation Programme.

"The procedure is expected to replace existing non-destructive testing (NDT) technologies with a new sensor solution that requires minimal skills to perform structural monitoring and results in aircraft downtime."

“As a Canadian leader in ISS solutions, we are developing state-of-the-art technologies and innovative solutions to help our customers keep their fleet flying for longer periods of time at a lower cost.”

Under the terms of the contract, L-3 MAS will partner with the Royal Canadian Air Force to test the technology, including the Chameleon Skin Gauge sensor, on components, as well as the CF-18 aircraft structure.

The procedure is expected to replace existing non-destructive testing (NDT) technologies with a new sensor solution that requires minimal skills to perform structural monitoring and results in aircraft downtime.
