The Royal Norwegian Air Force has awarded a contract to Kongsberg to upgrade its NASAMS medium range air defence system.
Under the NKr360m ($61.8m) contract, the company will upgrade the existing FDC command and control centres and associated training facilities and provide new high mobility launchers for increased mobility.
The robust and reliable NASAMS system, designed for air defence operations, features state-of-the-art sensors, command, control and communication systems, and missile technology.
Kongsberg Defence Systems executive vice-president Eirik Lie said: "NASAMS is the backbone of Norwegian ground-based air defence, and is the preferred medium range air defence system in Nato."
The Kongsberg and Raytheon-built NASAMS system is scheduled for delivery within a two-year timeframe.
