Industrial Electronic Engineers (IEE), a manufacturer of enhanced displays for military and industrial applications, has secured a contract to supply a new 3.5in control display unit (CDU) from Cubic Global Defence (CGD).
Under terms of the agreement, the company will provide the CDU as an upgrade to the existing personnel locator system (PLS) CDU currently fielded on multiple aircraft platforms, such as the US Air Force C-130J fleet.

IEE CEO Tom Whinfrey said: "IEE is an expert in delivering the best value in form and fit replacement by modifying existing COTS products to meet legacy requirements.
"This greatly enhances the life cycle of the CDU, which is of utmost importance to our customers."
Capable of providing a full backward compatibility with the control display sub-system (CDSS), the CDU features an added Ethernet interface that enables the display of PLS output data on the moving maps on external avionics displays.
Additionally, the new solution will provide several industry standard interfaces that allow for future expansion and additional interoperability with other aircraft systems.
