The Indian Air Force (IAF) will hold the aerial wargame exercise Operation Livewire between 24 March and 15 April next year to prove its war-fighting concepts under a networked atmosphere.

Press Trust of India has reported that the IAF’s main operational assets, including the Su-30MKI, Jaguar, Mirage 2000, Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) and C-130 Super Hercules aircraft, will participate in the exercise.

Operation Livewire involves both conventional and non-conventional warfare as well as surgical strike manoeuvres, while air operations of all the fighter aircraft will be controlled by the AWACS aircraft.

Currently, the IAF is conducting Exercise MahaGujRaj with the army over the western desert, and its strike elements are participating in the army’s Sudarashan Shakti exercise.
