In December 2014, the company announced the receipt of a $6.3m order from the same IDIQ contract. This was for the supply of AN/PLM-4 systems for testing of radar warning receivers on various aircraft.

Exelis Communications Solutions business area vice-president Jennifer Schoonover said: "The continuing delivery of the AN/PLM-4 is a testament to the quality and performance of the RSS, and the commitment of Exelis to our military customers."

The AN/PLM-4 RSS is operated by a battery or external AC power. It is a portable, cost-effective radar simulator designed to evaluate radar warning receivers, electronic surveillance measures, and electronic countermeasures systems.

"The continuing delivery of the AN/PLM-4 is a testament to the quality and performance of the RSS, and the commitment of Exelis to our military customers."

In particular, the self-contained system validates the detection and identification capabilities of fixed and rotary wing aircraft, surface ships, submarines, as well as land vehicles against the latest hostile threats.

Testing can be carried out on pods, on-board self-protection electronic countermeasures systems, as well as radar warning receiver systems, and electronic warfare support measures systems.

The AN/PLM-4 RSS uses internal antennas to radiate toward the system under test (SUT), enabling the user to evaluate the SUT operation or perform diagnostics. It also features a remote terminal that controls its functions.

As well as the USAF, the AN/PLM-4 has also been delivered to other branches of the US Military and other customers worldwide.
