The Canadian Department of National Defence has extended CAE’s contract to upgrade the CC-130J Hercules training environment at the Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Trenton in Ontario.
Under the $32.5m contract, the company will deliver training simulators and courseware as part of the Canadian Armed Forces’ tactical airlift fleet upgrade programme.

Canadian Defence Minister Parliamentary Secretary James Bezan said: "The CC-130 Hercules is a mainstay of the Canadian Armed Forces’ transport fleet.
"The training that will take place here at Canadian Forces Base Trenton will ensure this fleet can continue to enable troops to conduct safer and more effective operations at home and abroad well into the future."
CAE supplied two full-mission simulators, one flight training device, three Simfinity integrated procedures trainers, one fuselage trainer and laptop-based CAE Simfinity virtual simulators as part of a C$329.5m ($302.6m) contract awarded in February 2009.
The 2009 operational training systems provider (OTSP) contract also covered the provision of courseware, tactical control centre, training information management system and 20-year in-service support.

By GlobalDataThe 426 Squadron uses the devices and courseware to provide training for the 17 CC-130J Hercules fleet based at 8 Wing Trenton.
The training courseware is being updated to align it with the CC-130J upgrades being currently undertaken. The airlift aircraft are being equipped with better navigation, communication and maintenance capabilities.
Training devices and courseware, including lesson plans, publications, training devices and spares, are being planned to be updated or fully developed.
Canadian Defence Minister Rob Nicholson said: "We are not only giving our airmen and airwomen important training, but it is also an investment in the growth of the Canadian defence and security industries, which ultimately bolsters the economic prosperity of our country."
