The US Air Force (USAF) has awarded a contract to CAE to provide comprehensive Predator and Reaper remotely-piloted aircraft (RPA) aircrew training services.

Under the $20m firm-fixed-price contract, CAE will provide classroom, simulator, and live flying instruction as well as courseware development in support of the USAF’s General Atomics-built MQ-1 Predator and MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) training programmes.

Fully-qualified instructional staff will also be provided by the company to conduct academic and live flying instruction at Holloman Air Force Base (AFB), New Mexico; Creech AFB, Nevada; March Air Reserve Base, California and Hancock Field Air National Guard Base, New York, US.

The contract also includes implementation of a new learning content management system as well as courseware development services, primarily at the formal training schoolhouse located at Holloman AFB.

The training for MQ-1/MQ-9 Predator/Reaper aircrews will be received for initial qualification, refresher/recurrent training and instructor qualification.

Featuring significant loiter time, a wide-range of sensors, multi-mode communications suite, and precision weapons, the MQ-1 Predator and the MQ-9 Reaper UAVs have been designed to conduct coordination, reconnaissance and strike missions against high-value, fleeting and time-sensitive targets.

The Air Combat Command, Acquisition Management & Integration Center/PKB, Langley Air Force Base, Virginia, US will serve as the contracting activity.
