CAE has installed a new C-130H/L-382 full-mission simulator at its C-130 training centre located in Tampa, Florida, US.

The new C-130H simulator will join a fleet of three currently operational C-130E/H reconfigurable full-mission simulators, as well as a C-130E/H flight training device and part-task trainers at the centre.

The new simulator features Rockwell Collins integrated Flight2 glass cockpit avionics system.

Equipped with CAE Medallion-6000 image generator, the simulator is expected to be certified to Level D, the highest certification for flight simulators.

Currently, the training centre offers a wide range of devices aircrew and maintenance training to provide ground school and simulator training for C-130 pilots, flight engineers, loadmasters and maintenance technicians.

The C-130 Hercules is designed to support airborne assault, search-and-rescue, scientific research support, weather reconnaissance, maritime patrol and aerial fire fighting missions worldwide.

The C-130 Hercules primarily performs intra theatre portion of the airlift mission, and is capable of operating from rough, dirt strips. It paradrops troops and equipment into hostile areas.

The aircraft is currently operational with the air forces of Australia, Indonesia, Canada, Denmark, India, Italy, Norway, Qatar, the US and the UK.
