The US Government is considering the sale of advanced aircraft worth $60bn to Saudi Arabia under a foreign sales agreement.
The US intends to approve the sale of 84 new F-15 fighter jets and helicopters, including 70 upgraded F-15s, 70 Apaches, 72 Black Hawks and 36 Little Birds for the Royal Saudi Air Force.
The deal is expected to be completed in five to ten years, depending on production schedules and training needed, according to the Washington Post.
The sale, which has been under negotiation since 2007, aims to increase Saudi Arabia’s defence strength against Iran.
