Lockheed Martin Aeronautics has awarded Kongsberg a contract to deliver components for the F-35 fighter aircraft.

Under the NKr270m ($42m) contract, Kongsberg will deliver composite and titanium components for the F-35 aircraft rudders.

Kongsberg will deliver the components for 62 Lockheed F-35 fighters.

The F-35 Lightning II, also known as joint strike fighter (JSF), is designed for air-to-air combat performance, using advanced stealth to avoid detection.

In stealth mode, the F-35 can carry an internal weapons load including two 2,000lb joint direct attack munitions (JDAMS) and two advanced, medium-range, air-to-air missiles (AMRAAM).
