UK MoD Receives Upgraded Chinook Helicopter Engines
The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has received the first 28 upgraded T55-L-714A engines and fielding kits for Chinook helicopters from Honeywell. Under a $185m contract, Honeywell has upgraded the Chinook engines to increase power by 17% and reduce fuel consumption by nearly 5%. <
The significant increase in power will enable the Chinook helicopters to operate in hot and dry conditions in Afghanistan, and deliver more troops and ammunition.
Honeywell provides engines for the UK MoD’s legacy CH-47D and new CH-47F helicopters.
