L-3 Link Simulation & Training has received a contract from Boeing to build 12 F-22 full mission trainers (FMTs) for the US Air Force.
Under the $39.2m contract, L-3 will develop high-fidelity F-22 FMTs, which will enable pilots to practice operating the fifth-generation fighter aircraft.
F-22 FMTs will be used to perform air-to-air and air-to-ground warfighting training, and simulated missions against advanced integrated radar networks and dense surface-to-air missile environments.
It will be integrated into the USAF’s distributed mission operations training network.
This will enable F-22 pilots to train and conduct missions with other aircrews flying different simulated aircraft at different worldwide locations.
Since 2003, L-3 Link has delivered nine F-22 FMTs, 23 F-22 weapons tactics trainers and five F-22 Egress procedures trainers for the F-22 training system programme.
