Raytheon and Boeing have successfully completed the first of the three firings of the joint air-to-ground missile (JAGM).
During the test, the JAGM used its laser guidance system to hit an 8ft×8ft target board from a distance of 16km.

All three guidance systems of the JAGM operated simultaneously and provided telemetry data that will enable engineers to conduct further analysis of the weapon.
The JAGM will include a tri-mode seeker with laser, an uncooled imaging infrared sensor, millimeter wave guidance, Raytheon GBU-53/B small diameter bomb II and Boeing Brimstone.
It will replace three legacy systems and offer aircraft improved lethality, range, operational flexibility, supportability and cost savings compared to older weapons like the Hellfire missile.
