The Royal Saudi Air Force’s (RSAF) F-15 fighter jet fleet is to be retrofitted with flight control components from US-based Goodrich Corporation.
Under a new contract from Al Raha Group for Technical Services, Goodrich will supply ten different GRID-LOCK components to enable the retrofitting for 150 F-15 fighters of the RSAF.
Goodrich will provide components such as ailerons, flaps, rudder fairings and wing tips to reduce lifecycle costs.
The GRID-LOCK technology will join machined structural components to make strong, lightweight parts out of interlocking pieces.
It will make the components more durable and corrosion-resistant, compared with bonded aluminium honeycomb components.
Goodrich will begin deliveries in late 2010 and continue to mid 2011.
