The Russian Air Force is to receive a fifth-generation stealth combat helicopter capable of attacking fighter jets.
Russian Helicopter Holdings CEO Andrei Shibitov told the Voice of Russia that the company would invest $1bn in the project, currently in its preliminary stage.
According to Shibitov, the helicopter is equipped with a computerised arms control system, can reach a speed of up to 500km/h-600km/h, and will include a low radar signature and reduced noise levels.
Predesign research of the helicopter is underway at the two design bureaus, Mil and Kamov.
The testing of two aerodynamic models in air tunnels has begun, the results of which will eventually lead to the selection of the final design.
